Assets are the physical or digital media files that bring scheduled content to life. They represent the connection between abstract program entries in a broadcast schedule and the actual video of image files visbile to the audience.
Annotations allow to mark specific moments in video assets with timecodes. Based on those timecodes, different types of annotations can be added. Annotation types can be created by users in the parameters.
Annotations can be used, for example, to provide specific parts of a movie with comments about partental ratings. Those comments (annotations) can then be forwarded to the corresponding department to assign extra partenal ratings to specific scenes.
The Annotations tab allows users to add different types of time-coded notes to video assets.

First of all, the Annotations tab (1) needs to be accessed from above.
There are two major sections: On the left hand side, video assets can be found and sorted. On the right hand side, annotations can be added and edited.
1 How to create and edit annotations
Starting off with selection of a video asset, this chapter explains the entire process of creating an annotation using the layback controls and annotation type selection.
NOTE
Annotations can only be created for uploaded video assets since there is an actual video file, in contrast to referential assets.
If set as default, parameters will be preselected in the respective drop-down menus.
Parameters can be accessed and edited by users with administration rights. If you need more information, please contact your admin or our CreateCtrl support.

When searching an asset, the stock search can be applied by ticking the checkbox (1). This means that the search performed in the stock is displayed here, including all search results.
By clicking on the desired video asset thumbnail (2), the video loads in the right panel.
Before creating an annotation, the type of annotation (3) is selected from a drop-down menu.
The next step is to navigate to the desired timecode. For this purpose, the playback controls (4) can be used, which will be illustrated in the following:
Playbock control buttons
| Button | Function |
|---|---|
| ▶ | Play |
| ⏸ | Pause |
| |← | Jump to start |
| →| | Jump to end |
| ⏩ | Fast forward |
| ⏪ | Fast rewind |
| ▶ | Next frame |
| ◀ | Previous frame |
To the left of playback control symbols, TCIn (5) and TCOut (6) are displayed. The TCIn is also displayed above.
Also, the sound can be switched on and off (7), and the playback speed (8) can be set.
After finding the desired timecode in the video, a new annotation is added by clicking the plus icon (9).
NOTE
Annotation types are defined in the parameters.
If set as default, parameters will be preselected in the respective drop-down menus.
Parameters can be accessed and edited by users with administration rights. If you need more information, please contact your admin or our CreateCtrl support.

After clicking the plus icon, an annotation will be created according to the timecode (1) set in the video.
The thumbnail (2) of the annotation will be a screenshot of the video at the annotation timecode.
The actual annotation can be entered into a text field (3).

When moving to a different timecode (1) in the video, the timecode of the annotation can be adapted by clicking the arrow pointing to the right (2).
By clicking the The screenshot correction button (3), the thumbnail is updated to display a screenshot of the current timeframe.

The video can also be hidden by using the toggle switch (1).
2 How to manage annotations
First of all, there is an overview of managing options performed via the context menu, e. g. adding assets to folders and favorites. Then, the Clipboard feature, which also allows to collect assetsin one place for further editing, will be explained in detail.
2.1 Perform context menu options
This chapter explains how to manage assets using the context menu, and what those options can be used for. Management options include:
- Editing assets
- Adding assets to folders and favorites
- Archiving assets
- View the editing history of an asset

First of all, the context menu (1) needs to be accessed.
2. Edit assets: Clicking this button leads to the editing dialog of the respective asset, allowing to adapt all of its data (see Create and edit assets).
3. Add to folder & 4. Remove from folder: This feature allows to organize assets by adding them into folders.
5. Add to favorite: This feature allows to mark assets as favorites for quick access (see Manage favorites).
6. Set to archive: This feature moves the asset to the archive. Archived assets are preserved but hidden from the active stock, keeping it organized (see Archive items).
